- Tasting notes : The hallmark of the 2015 Le Désir is its structured and precise palate. There is a balance between softness and hardness: iron-rich, rocky minerality, aromas of new leather and cigar. The clear, driving expression of bright red fruit comes to the fore. Wild strawberries, cherries, and crisp apple join with the signature herbal tone of Cabernet Franc. Fresh, subtle pea shoots and heirloom tomato vine—along with notes of red licorice and tobacco box—pave the way to a linear, silky finish, resounding with a floral bouquet of lilacs and violets. Remarkably expressive in its youth, Le Désir is a multi-layered and complex wine. Its depths will unfold for ages. Tasting Date: August 2017. Verkostnotiz James Suckling: Love the aromas of black cherries and blackberries, violets and roses. Stunning. Full-bodied, layered and dense with focus and precision. Full tannins, yet compressed and polished. A great cabernet franc-based red. Give this four to five years of bottle age be fore drinking but already beautiful to taste. Verkostnotiz Robert Parker: Seillan said that 2015 (which was still in barrel at the time of my tasting) was the finest vintage of his lifetime, which is strong praise indeed. Certainly, he has three titanic wines aging in the wine cellars. If you want to taste something that is like Château Ausone on steroids, check out the 2015 Le Désir, a blend of 64% Cabernet Franc, 26% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. This huge, ripe wine offers incredible balance, a black/purple color, a stunning nose of crushed rock, white flowers, blueberries and blackberries intermixed with incense and a forest floor component, and an extraordinary integration of tannin, acidity, wood and alcohol. Thismagnificent wine should age effortlessly for 35-40+ years.
